BLAINESWORLD #769, Section 2

Bob in North Carolina:

Remember Tom Lehrer and his song, “National Brotherhood Week?” The song told about everyone hating everyone else and came around to the chorus chorus which went”…and everybody hates the Jews…” In fact,
One week of every year is designated National Brotherhood Week. This is just one of many such weeks honoring various worthy causes. One of my favorites is National Make-fun-of-the-handicapped Week which Frank Fontaine and Jerry Lewis are in charge of as you know. During National Brotherhood Week various special events are arranged to drive home the message of brotherhood. This year, for example, on the first day of the week Malcolm X was killed which gives you an idea of how effective the whole thing is. I’m sure we all agree that we ought to love one another and I know there are people in the world that do not love their fellow human beings and I hate people like that. Here’s a song about National Brotherhood Week.

Oh, the white folks hate the black folks,
And the black folks hate the white folks.
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clarke are dancing cheek to cheek.
It’s fun to eulogize
The people you despise,
As long as you don’t let ’em in your school.

Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks,
And the rich folks hate the poor folks.
All of my folks hate all of your folks,
It’s American as apple pie.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans ’cause it’s very chic.
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can’t stand.
You can tolerate him if you try.

Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics,
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Muslims,
And everybody hates the Jews.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
It’s National Everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood Week.
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you.
It’s only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn’t last all year!

We’re moving!

Many of you know me from my years of grief counseling and my book

And God Created Hope.

Well, the big news is that I am moving!

I am consolidating all my grief-sites into a new comprehensive site…

On that website will be general grief help and information, as well as these categories:

1. How to cope with the loss of a loved one,

2. How to cope with the loss of a pet (Pet loss IS loss!),

3, Divorce and realtionship breakup, and

4. Illness and other losses.

I’m working now on setting up the new site, and I would like some advice from you.

My Questions: What would you like me to talk about on the site? What loss issues are you now dealing with? How would you use my site? As advice, reference or something else? Does the world need or want to hear what Mel Glazer has to say?

I value your opinions, and would love to hear from you!

Contact me at
Or call: 719 444-0430

The purpose of my work has not changed, I still want to use what I know about death and loss, to help you move forward in your own lives. To move “from mourning to morning.”

Thanks for your help…you’ll be hearing from me!

If you go to Mark Levin Radio show, you will see a link there about PETA. Please pass on to let people know how PETA is killing lost pets. The photos are horrible of these dogs that are obviously pets and
healthy animals. It’s hard to see, but people should know.

Walter and Keith were at the WNC Nature Center last night and made it into the Citizen-Times. Glad it was not in the “police report” section, as we came pretty close with some of those knives around our volunteers

Entering the art world from another profession (fitness training) has been an exhilarating experience. Coming late to the studio has kept me focused on my desire to create images that convey a sense of place, time and mood.

Interesting newsletter[#768], BG. You look good in those pictures, as does your “beautiful bride.” Good also to see the reference to Ed Kohlhepp. Jake’s is on our breakfast list–we’ve heard only good things about it.

Can you please post some more information about the ConnectMe QR Code? The correct link for Asheville is now and the initial account needs to be set up on a laptop or desktop, not via mobile.

Please feel free to use any info from but it is extremely an amazing product that is being lauched from Asheville to worldwide. Technically it is a Custom QR Code that links to a premium mobile website with options, all for $4.99 a month, but free for life for avl if they set up an account during June 2011. People need to understand that making an account now is free, but after June, it will be almost 60 a year. This will be the next big technology worldwide, and Asheville is going to be one of the keys. Not a time to hesitate.
