BLAINESWORLD #771, Section 12C (PA/NJ)

Langhorne Council for the Arts presents a lecture by Dr. Leon Bass on Tuesday,
July 12, 7 PM, at the Anna Mary Williamson Library and Museum, 160 W. Maple
Avenue, in Langhorne Borough. The title of the lecture is also the title of his
book, “Good Enough: One Man’s Memoir on the Price of the Dream.” Dr. Bass is
a mesmerizing storyteller whose life experiences could be the subject of several
fascinating films. He appeared in the Academy Award-nominated documentary,
“Liberators: Fighting on Two Fronts in World War II.” Having lectured
extensively on racism and The Holocaust, Dr. Bass was awarded the Pearlman Award
for Humanitarian Advancement from Jewish Women International.

Dr. Bass’ memoir is a living history of some of the pivotal moments of 20th
Century America: from his anger at his treatment as an African-American soldier
in the Deep South, to being a witness the cruelties of Buchenwald, to his
awakening to new possibilities as he listened to Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I
Have a Dream” speech during the March on Washington in 1963. Dr. Bass asks, “Is
the price too high?” The price to realize the dream, he explains, is to stand
up and be counted by doing the right thing, whether large or small, every day.
Autographed copies of Dr. Bass’ book will be available. Tickets will be sold at
the door, $5. For more information, call 215-752-0854 or visit

As I’m sure most of you remember, Paul and I were in a very bad car accident while on our road trip across the country a few months ago. I made it out with mere bumps and bruises, however Paul was not so lucky. He was ejected from the truck, which landed on his legs. His most serious injuries include a broken back, 17 broken ribs, and several broken teeth. Paul is currently in physical therapy and is recovering slowly but surly! As you can imagine, he will be out of work for quite a while, and the medical bills are racking up. So with the help from some of our amazing family and friends we have decided to throw a beef n beer! Hope you all can make it!

*Tickets are $25 in advanced, $30 at the door (Contact me to purchase in advance)

It’s 1985 and rock singer wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his fiance leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. Only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, a girl of his dreams will be gone forever. With a brand new score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 80’s, The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singing might just be the coolest guy in the room.
