“Winterfest” is the perfect way for your family and friends to get in the holiday mood, with more than 100 choral voices bringing you these live choral works:

British composer John Rutter’s famous “Gloria,” which marked his first US engagement in 1974
A selection from American contemporary composer Ray Fahrner’s “Winterfest,” which draws on texts of celebration from the Middle Ages and Renaissance
Selections from Pulitzer-Prize winning Italian-American composer Gian Carlo Menotti’s iconic 1951 opera, “Amahl and the Night Visitors”
A toe-tapping tropical piece from the Haitian composer, Emile Desamours
American choral celebrity Eric Whitacre’s gorgeous “Lux Aurumque”
…and other Christmastime works from jazz legend Dave Brubeck, the popular American tradition A Charlie Brown Christmas, Venezuelan composer Cesar Alejandro Carrillo, traditional carols with brass, and more!
“Winterfest” tickets are available until Thursday, December 1st via our online box office or by calling the ACS Office at 828-232-2060.

You may also purchase tickets from an ACS chorus member or “at the door” at Arden Presbyterian Church, on the concert dates, starting one hour before each performance (as capacity allows). We look forward to seeing you there!


(4) ASHEVILLE TALENT SLAM is in negotiations with two corporate sponsors who want to expand the show and get other media involved. This would mean much greater exposure for all participants, as well as Eblen Charities. New date is most likely February, and talent registration remains open at:

(6) Gingerbread Doghouse Competition & Display
When: Dec. 4 – 7, 2011
Where: The Grove Park Inn Country Club
Description: This fundraising event, to be held at our historic country club, will benefit local pet charities Animal Compassion Network, Asheville Humane Society, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Humane Alliance, and Paws on a Mission.

Similar to The National Gingerbread House Competition™, contestants are invited to build a doghouse made entirely of edible materials – with a twist – entries must be constructed and composed completely of dog-edible materials. A panel of judges will select winners in each category and display attendees will each vote for the “People’s Choice” award.

Members of Steep Canyon Rangers, Town Mountain and Larry Keel join together for an all ages bluegrass show that will have your jaw droppin and feet stompin! The fact that this trio is performing, given their crazy seperate touring schedules, is amazing!!!
