(4) Delores C. in PA: Dear Family & Friends

I am embarking on another journey with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help save lives! As some of you may know this will be my ninth event with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I feel very blessed to be able to make a difference in the lives of those who are battling any type of blood related cancers.

My goal is to raise $4,000 dollars for this amazing cause! With your support and prayers we can make it happen. I know my fundraising efforts and running this marathon will contribute to bringing us one step closer to finding a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, and other blood related disease. My goal is to exceed the fundraising requirement and complete the marathon with no injuries. Compared to the statistics, to which every five minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood related disease this goal is minuscule. Please help me achieve my goals. I appreciate all donations, big and small, and remember that you are making a difference in the life of every person affected by these diseases. Keep in mind all donations are 100% tax deductible, and if you could pass this letter on to anyone whom you think would like to contribute to this great cause, I would greatly appreciate it.

I thank you for your love and support.

Delores Chalmers

P.S. If you have someone that you would like me to run in honor/memory of, please forward their names. It would be my pleasure to wear his/her name on my race day shirt.

Please make checks payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and send all donations to: Delores Chalmers,  776 Mohawk Street, Allentown, PA 18103

Or you can check out my website and donate online http://pages.teamintraining.org/vtnt/avengr15/dchalmers15

(9) Please help with this campaign for Melanie Fore: On Friday, March 6th, our beautiful Melanie was diagnosed with accute leukemia. They admitted her to St. Joseph’s campus at Mission hospital. She will be in the hospital for at least a month receiving aggressive chemo therapy. As you know, Melanie is a very strong woman, but is in for a dog fight. She knows and believes in the power of prayer. Her husband Jason has been her rock caring for her and Isabella. She has been in intense pain as this nasty disease has been attacking her body. Please pray for her relief of pain, complete recovery, and wisdom of her doctors and for her precious family during this very scary time.http://www.gofundme.com/pn33fs
(10) Joe D. in NC: I used airbnb.com to locate lodging in the area of California where my daughter lives. We will be going out there for the birth of our first grandchild April 29-June 3. We will stay with them early on then create some space by setting up residence nearby.I found a studio apartment with private entrance as part of a house about four miles away. Had my daughter and son-in-law check it out. Communicated with the owners who appear to be around our age. All the reviews were great $50.00 per day. Worth a try.My daughter, who works for a marketing Research firm, said that AirBNB is a client. Adds to their credibility.(11) BCCC celebrating a half century of college education

(12) Ed Brenegar in NC:  I’ve  created a Facebook page to foster great conversation the importance of individual initiative for making a difference. Please visit, like my page, and leave a comment. I’ll respond. Thanks.

Initiative … the action that follows first desire, then, thought. It is the foundation of all leadership, whether in the CEO suite or down the back hall in the warehouse. It is one thing that we all have the capacity to do … to take initiative to make a difference that matters.

(13) Natalie K. in PA: Saw a good movie last night from our Netflix pool – “Million Dollar Arm.”  Did you see it?  Excellent.  I recommend it if you haven’t.

Response: I did see it and like Natalie, also enjoyed it.

(14) Mike M. in NC:  CINDERELLA ***1/2

Everything abut Cinderella is delightful and magical. Directed by the great Kenneth Branagh and staring Cate Blanchett as the wicked step mother (who actually is not as evil and wicked as in previous productions including Disney’s animated feature), two stars from Downton Abbey Lilly Thomas as Cinderella (cousin Rose on Downton), Sophie McShera as Drisella (Daisy on Downton), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones)as the Prince, Derek Jacobi as the King, Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother and a cast of every talented actor.
You can’t help but love the sets, costumes and cinematography. The story you very well know with the exception that this is not a musical.
This will definitely rank in my top 10 favorites of 2015. It is well worth the price of admission.

(2) The Lovers, The Dreamers, and We

Thursday, April 9at 6:00pm – 7:15pm
Biltmore United Methodist Church
376 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville, North Carolina 28803

Chuck Taft, pictured below, presents a solo vocal recital accompanied by Vance Reese on organ and piano, assisted by Sabrina Kumar on flute (and other instruments) and Jim Lestock on cello, and joined by his daughter Céilí. The program is a mixture of opera, art songs, folks songs, musical theatre as well arrangements written just for this recital. The material speaks to Chuck’s journey through life and love – from impish enthusiasm to maturing wonderment.

This is a free concert with donations accepted to defray the costs. A reception will follow in the Events Center.
